Membership
WiscNet is proud to be a membership organization. WiscNet membership permits access to a growing set of member-designed and member-governed educational services and also allows collaboration among neighboring institutions in building an educational community that is owned and democratically controlled by our members.
Who are our members?
Members include most of Wisconsin’s colleges and universities, around 75 percent of the state’s K12 school districts, most library systems, the State of Wisconsin, many local and municipal governments, hospitals and several nonprofit affiliated organizations. Our complete member list is continually updated and you can also view a geographical representation of our members by viewing our member map .
How does an organization become a member?
Membership in WiscNet is open to educational institutions and associations, libraries and associations, governmental organizations, hospitals and other non-profit institutions. New members sign an annually-renewable Membership Memorandum of Understanding that describes the roles, responsibilities and fees. Our elected Board of Directors reviews and decides each such membership application.
To discuss an application for membership, including our common purposes, the services that you’re likely to use and corresponding fees, please contact Shaun Abshere, Associate Director by e-mail sabshere@wiscnet.net or phone (608) 265-3790.
Do we need to purchase Network Access service to become a member?
No! WiscNet is an educational community and the benefits of this community reach far beyond network services.
What benefits do I get as a member of a research and education organization?
Members of a research and education organization inherit a community of like minded professionals with similar questions, problems and missions. WiscNet membership has many benefits that go beyond technical services. Members also benefit from:
- A support team that keeps research and education at the heart of every mission
- The ability to have state-wide and national impact
